ONE-PAN PASTA

Have you ever heard of the Flavor Bible? Basically, it’s an entire book that lists ingredients and what goes well with each ingredient. Ingredients that go exceptionally well with the ingredient are listed in all caps.

For example, under the ingredient tomatoes, ONION, GARLIC, and BASIL are all in caps.

One-Pan Sausage, Broccoli, and Sun-dried Tomato Pasta is spicy, creamy, and done in 30 minutes.

  • 1/2
    lb
    Italian sausage
    (hot or mild)
  • 1/2
    cup
    diced yellow onion
  • 2
    cloves
    garlic, minced
  • 2
    cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 ½
    cups
    heavy cream
  • 2 ½
    cups
    small broccoli florets
  • 2
    cups
    uncooked small pasta
  • 1/2
    cup
    sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2
    cup
    grated Parmesan
  • basil for garnish

  1. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium-high heat and onion until sausage is no longer pink. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, remove meat mixture to a plate. Drain, leaving 1 tablespoon of fat in the pan.

  2. Add the chicken broth, cream, broccoli, pasta. and sun-dried tomatoes to the pan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cover with a lid.

  3. Cook for 7-9 minutes at a low simmer, stirring intermittently but replacing the lid quickly. Cook until pasta is done. You may need to add more liquid and cook longer if your pasta is not tender. If you like your broccoli more on the crisp side add it later and not when you add the pasta.

  4. Add the meat mixture back to the pan and stir. Add Parmesan cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with basil.
